A beautiful day indeed on last Saturday at The Roof Garden in Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur when we had an exclusive Jazzy afternoon with singer Jasmine Chen, an uprising star singer-songwriter from the Hollywood Blockbuster 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Hosted by Senada Kuala Lumpur, it was a great turnout at the event where audiences well receive the performance with big applause and an encore request at the end of the show.

Jasmine appeared in the 2018 smash hit (directed by Jon M. Chu) as herself, with six of her songs appearing in it and three are featured as the movie's soundtracks. She serenaded some of the tracks during the event, of course not missing the iconic pieces like 一万一千公里 'When Love is Far Away', 给我一个吻 'Give Me A Kiss' and 我要你的爱 'I Want Your Love'. And showcasing her amazing talent as a songwriter, she sang her very own version of the song 'Quizas, Quizas, Quizas' with Chinese lyrics, revamping it to 你说 (direct translated to 'You Say').

Due to the overwhelming warm response by the audiences, Jasmine ends the show with 2 extra encore songs - What A Difference A Day Made and one of Teresa Teng's renowned songs, 月亮代表我的心 'The Moon Represents My Heart'. As another bonus, she stayed on after the show to have photo sessions with the audiences and it was indeed a great evening for everyone who attended the event.

ABOUT JASMINE CHEN

Based in Shanghai, China now - this star was born into a family of professional folk dancers and actors, where she was groomed to be a concert pianist but end up falling in love with Jazz while studying abroad in the prestigious Leeds College of Music in England. She returned to China in 2005 to follow this passion, introducing China's rich musical heritage into the world of Jazz.

She has since become one of China's leading figures in the Jazz scene, combining Western songs with original Chinese lyrics. Her unique perspective introduces one world to the other, bridging gaps between traditional Chinese songs with forgotten folk songs and contemporary Jazz singing with a touch of the West. This rare talent of moving between two worlds has gained her a strong following from both Chinese and Western audiences, bringing her globally as she charms audiences around the world from the intimate stage of Shanghai's JZ Club to the big lights of Rotterdam's Northsea Jazz Festival.
